My name is Ron Odum and this is my blunder:
Fun with Guns
Here is one of my favorite 'goofs'...and a rather costly one at that..
It all started when I felt the need to dress the old 'Hawg-Leg .45" with a new set of fancy grips.
I put in a call to the late Lumberlady and got a hunk of Desert Ironwood. Desert Ironwood is only native to the desert SW and very rare and expensive. She informed me to expect some repairable cracking.
My chunk arrived in a few days on the little brown truck and I went to work....VERY carefully resawing, cutting, shaping and sanding the first grip panel until it was about 2/3 rds. done before starting on the second ..
About halfway through, I realized how stupid and careless I had been...Yep..as you can tell by the JPG...I made TWO LEFT GRIP PANELS...
Unfortunately I didn't have enough clear ironwood to make another one, so I put them away for now...
One day I will find another piece of Desert Ironwood and make the right side panel...
